"When I go to the library and pull one of my books off the shelf, I know that dreams do come true"

I started writing when I was in elementary school. When I was in the sixth grade I won first place in a story contest for Where's My Partner? I received free books at the Book Fair.

But most importantly, my teacher, Mrs. Herbert, wrote that "she enjoyed the story too, and hoped this was the beginning of a writing career." After that I started thinking that maybe, someday, when I grew up, I could be a writer.

I joined the school newspaper as a reporter in Jr. HIgh. When I was in the eighth grade I was a library assistant. We had to write down a goal for something we wanted to do when we grew up. I wrote down that one day I wanted to go into the library and pull a book off the shelf that I had written.

I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Whitehouse, Texas when I was in high school. I won an honorable mention for an essay contest sponsored by General Electric.

I graduated from Texas A&M University and started teaching physical education. I currently live in College Station, Texas. I am an elementary librarian.

I have two beautiful children, Kacie and Brad, and a chocolate cocker spaniel named Melody.
